The crossover and properties of the QGP phase are important for understanding the evolution of the early universe. They are being studied by major Heavy Ion Collision (HIC) experiments at RHIC and LHC. The aim of the project is to investigate changes in the medium using lattice QCD methods to shed light onto the dynamics of HIC fireballs. In addition, a deeper understanding of possible quark matter cores in neutron stars will be made possible.
